Russia's systematic indoctrination and militarisation of Ukrainian children could amount to a crime against humanity, according to a new report by international experts.
The findings were presented on Thursday by an expert mission set up under the OSCE's Moscow Mechanism, a procedure triggered by Lithuania and 40 other member states of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe to investigate Russia's actions.
Lithuania's foreign minister-designate, Kęstutis Budrys, said the international community must ensure Russia is held to account and help Ukraine bring home children who have been taken.
Lithuania says it will continue working with partner countries and international bodies to secure the return of deported Ukrainian children, and backs efforts to document Russian crimes linked to the war.
This is the sixth time the Moscow Mechanism has been invoked over alleged Russian crimes since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Lithuania's foreign ministry said. Vilnius has previously committed €10m to initiatives aimed at returning abducted Ukrainian children.
