Lithuania reported 1,656 new coronavirus cases, by far the biggest daily increase since the start of the pandemic. Six more people died of the disease over the last 24 hours, the National Public Health Centre (NVSC).
The biggest increase, 307 cases, was reported in Kaunas County, 284 in Vilnius County and 200 in Šiauliai County.
In 301 cases, the source of infection could not be traced to any known sources, according to the NVSC.
This brings Lithuania's total Covid-19 count to 20,747 positive cases.
Around 1,200 medical staff are currently ill with Covid-19, Daiva Razmuvienė from the country's National Public Health Centre (NVSC) told reporters on Friday.
The number includes not only medics but also nurses and their assistants, said Razmuvienė, adding that "the number of cases among medics is really high".
The country currently has 15,340 active coronavirus cases and 5,454 recoveries, according to the Health Ministry.
Currently, 785 people with the coronavirus are being treated in the country's hospitals, including 64 in intensive care.
The coronavirus death toll now stands at 192, while another 67 coronavirus-infected people have died of other causes.
At the moment, 38,179 people are in isolation.
Lithuania tested 15,489 people over the past 24 hours.
