LRT.lt presents a new project exploring world cuisine in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
The first installment kicks off with Shima Farazian from Iran, who now owns two restaurants and a cafe in Vilnius.
After arriving in Lithuania four years ago, she saw that there were no places serving Iranian cuisine.
“Therefore, I often cooked at home for my friends in Vilnius,” Farazian told LRT.lt. “They really liked Persian food and always joked that I should open my own restaurant.”
“It was difficult at first, now knowing whether visitors will like [the food],” she said. “There were many misconceptions about Iran, for example, many thought that it’s an Arab country, even though we have a long, separate, and beautiful history and culture.”
You can visit Toranis on Pilies Street.
