A total of 290 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Lithuania as of Thursday morning, the Health Ministry said.
Four patients have died from Covid-19 so far and one has recovered.
Over 4,320 coronavirus tests have been carried out in the country so far, including 849 on Wednesday.
In an effort to slow the spread of the virus, the government on Wednesday extended the nationwide quarantine, which started on March 16, until April 13.
Twenty NATO battalion troops test positive
Twenty troops of NATO's multinational battalion stationed in Lithuania have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the military unit's spokesman confirmed to BNS on Wednesday.
“There are more confirmed cases. At this moment, there are a total of 20 cases,” Captain Evert-Jan Daniels said.
The officer gave no details as to the nationalities, apart from saying that two Dutch soldiers had been already flown to the Netherlands.
In an effort to stem the spread of the virus, military training is now taking place within the battalion only, and interaction with other units has been restricted to prevent contacts.
A TV3 news programme was the first to report new Covid-19 cases in the battalion stationed in Lithuania.
The German-led NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group was deployed to Lithuania in February 2017 in response to Russia's aggression in Ukraine and its activity in the Baltic Sea region.
