The Lithuanian Armed Forces have received a new batch of Israeli-made LR2 Spike anti-tank missiles worth 6 million euros, the Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.

"By upgrading the Lithuanian Armed Forces, we are also ensuring the ability of our army to stop enemy forces from entering the territory of the country. This is a clear strategic signal and a consistent step towards increasing our combat power," Defence Minister Dovile Šakalienė said.

The Spike missiles are integrated with the Lithuanian Boxer-type infantry fighting vehicles, called Vilkas, which also house Israeli turrets.

The minister discussed bilateral cooperation with Rafael, the Israeli manufacturer of the Spike missiles, during her visit to Israel in April.

At the time, officials said they discussed launching the production of Spike missiles in Lithuania, as well as the possibility of producing 120mm ammunition, drones, and anti-drone vehicles with the Israeli Elbit Systems and IAI, respectively.

The minister previously dismissed criticism of her visit to Israel amid war crimes allegations surrounding the country's ongoing military campaign in the Gaza strip.
