Despite differing views between European and United States leaders on the war in Ukraine, this should not negatively affect bilateral relations between Vilnius and Washington, President Gitanas Nausėda said.
“Lithuania is probably one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the transatlantic partnership in the European Union, [but] I must admit that we have certain differences,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
The differences surround “the support for Ukraine and the possible outcome of this war”, according to Nausėda.
“However, this should not negatively affect our relationship. We will do everything we can to resolve any uncertainties or disagreements between the EU and the US,” he added.
Last month, Washington said it would withdraw from attempts to reach a peace deal in Ukraine if there was no progress.
