BNS 2025.04.29 10:45

Lithuania will conduct a test of its public alert and information system, the Fire and Rescue Department notified on Tuesday.

Sirens will be activated at 11:52 on Wednesday and will blare for 3 minutes until 11:55. Alert messages about the system testing will be sent to mobile phones at the same time.

Once the sirens stop, information and recommendations on what to do in case of an emergency will be broadcast by the LRT and on regional and local radio stations.

According to the department's data, there are currently 1,163 alert sirens in the country, reaching 1.9 million people, or around 67 percent of the population, based on the latest siren test data.

The sirens were last tested in November last year.
