Too early to talk about sending Lithuanian troops to Ukraine – speaker

Parliament Speaker Saulius Skvernelis says it is too early to talk about Lithuania sending troops to Ukraine for a peace mission.

“It is absolutely too early to talk about it, there’s nothing to talk about yet,” he told reporters on Monday.

“We probably do not know yet what the format of the [peace] talks will be, nor what kind of peace they want to achieve as we hear very different statements, ranging from a capitulation mood to a search for the right peace formula. I think it’s far too early to say,” Skvernelis said.

If Ukraine asks Europe to send troops to ensure peace, Lithuania will consider such a request, Skvernelis underlined.
