The Baltic media group TV3 has announced it is shutting down its video content platform and news website in Estonia. At the same time, it is planning to expand its channels in Lithuania.
According to Laura Blaževičiūtė, head of TV3 in Lithuania, the group’s website in Lithuania, unlike in Estonia, is popular and successful.
“Tv3.lt is one of the most-read news websites in Lithuania and is among the leaders. As a group of websites, we are ranked second in the country. The tv3.ee situation in Estonia was different as it has failed to mirror the Lithuanian website’s success and become a market leaders over the past several years,” Blaževičiūtė told BNS.
She added that the group had plans to expand the website in Lithuania.
“We intend to continue to grow tv3.lt website where the news, life and business sections are among the most widely read in the country every day,” she stressed.
TV3 announced on Wednesday it was closing its streaming service TV3 Play and the tv3.ee news website next year. The group says it plans to focus on strengthening its core business and developing the Go3 platform in line with its strategic decisions.
