With the cruise ship season drawing to a close, the Lithuanian seaport authority estimates that about 65,000 passengers have visited Klaipėda this year, 35 percent more than last year.

So far this year, 46 cruise ships have visited the Port of Klaipėda. Five more cruise ships are expected in September and one in October and December each, the Klaipėda Seaport Authority said on Friday.

“After the pandemic years and turmoil in Baltic cruise shipping due to the threat of war, we are finally experiencing growth, and the port is once again becoming more attractive to international tourism,” Algis Latakas, the port’s CEO, said in a press release

The Amadea, due to arrive on December 8, will be the first Christmas cruise to visit Lithuania. It will bring 600 German tourists with all tickets already sold.

According to the port, 63 ships have already registered to visit Klaipėda next year, 10 of which will be visiting the port city for the first time.
