In their phone call on Monday, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky discussed Ukraine's peace formula summit, the situation on the frontline, and military assistance to Kyiv.
Nausėda was the first leader to confirm his participation in the summit expected to be held in Switzerland in mid-June, the Lithuanian president's office said in a press release.
The president also said that Lithuania appreciates Germany's initiative for immediate action on Ukraine's air defence and welcomes Berlin's decision to send an additional Patriot air defence system to Ukraine.
"Lithuania will also join this initiative," he said.
Lithuania leads the Demining Coalition of Ukraine, which aims to pool and coordinate existing and future mine action support to Ukraine from donor countries.
"Today, in my meeting with visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, I invited Germany to support this coalition with a financial contribution for the purchase of equipment needed by Ukraine," Nausėda said.
Lithuania's assistance to Ukraine totals over a billion euros, about half of which is military aid. The country has allocated nearly 80 million euros in assistance to Ukraine this year alone.
