After 16 years of reconstruction, the new premises of the Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema Museum opened in Vilnius on Thursday. The museum’s treasures are exhibited in repositories that will be open for guided tours.
One repository showcases the entire history of cameras – from the very first ones dating back to the end of the 19th century to the latest ones. The museum also stores the first film projectors.
“There will be seven open repositories. They are all important to us, but we know that the history of cameras is the most interesting to everybody,” says Nideta Jarockienė, head of the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema.

The repository of musical instruments is also expected to be popular among visitors. The instruments, including pianos, organs, and others, have been stored for decades in poor conditions and now they finally have a home, says Jarockienė.
Registration for guided tours is open from Friday.
