On Monday, 13-year-old Meda Stankevičiūtė went missing in Vilnius. Her relatives first reported it on Facebook. The teenager was found on Friday alive and well, the police confirmed.
“She has orange hair with red strands, is about 165 centimetres tall, is wearing black trousers with silver stars and a brown jacket,” the girl’s relatives describe her features on Facebook.
Tomas Bražėnas, a spokesperson for the Vilnius District Police, previously spoke about the search for the girl.
“The initial information is that our cynologists were working, as well as a fire brigade. Several services are definitely involved, and from the very first minutes we received the information, we were already moving the issue forward,” he told LRT.lt.
He noted that the case is different from the one in early January when a 9-year-old girl went missing in Kaunas and was later found in a garage where she was kept by a kidnapper. Back then, hundreds of police officers, as well as volunteers, were looking for the girl for a few days.
“Officials say it has nothing to do with a similar case in Kaunas. This is a slightly different situation because the child left the house. We don’t know whether there were disagreements, but the parents are worried because the child is not coming back,” Bražėnas said.
According to him, the family of the missing teenager was not known to the police.
