Furious Wolf 24-1, an international tactical air control party (TACP) exercise, is getting underway in the Lithuanian districts of Panevėžys and Klaipėda on Monday.
The public may hear and see aircraft reinforcing NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission, Lithuanian military helicopters, and an MQ-9 Reaper drone in the area east of Panevėžys city centre during the exercise, the Lithuanian Armed Forces said in a press release.
Furious Wolf 24-1, organised by NATO Battlegroup Estonia, is running in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia from January 15 to February 2, 2024.
The exercise is aimed at training the capabilities of Lithuanian, US Air Force, and NATO multinational battalions deployed in the Baltic states and Poland to plan and coordinate close air support and conduct air attack control by integrating battalion fire support assets and organic reconnaissance elements.
At the same time, the Brigadier General Povilas Plechavičius Training Area in the district of Klaipėda will host a simulated exercise on naval fire call procedures. Ammunition and pyrotechnics will not be used during the training, according to the press release.
