The majority of the German brigade troops will be deployed in Lithuania in 2026, the Defence Ministry said on Friday.
“We already know the structure of the new brigade and have designated specific locations for its deployment,” Defence Minister Arvydas Anusauskas said in a press release.
“The training areas in Rukla and Rūdninkai will be fully utilized for the German brigade’s training and exercises,” he added.
According to the minister, the greater part of the German brigade will be stationed in Lithuania as early as 2026.
“Some of the German military personnel will be in Lithuania with their families; we will have to provide civilian infrastructure for their family members, including better transport links with Germany,” he said.
The Defence Ministry hosted a meeting of the Joint Lithuanian-German Working Group on October 18-20 to discuss the stationing of the German brigade in Lithuania.
