LRT.lt has launched a news feed featuring stories from European public service broadcasters participating in A European Perspective project.
A European Perspective news stories are displayed on the home pages of LRT.lt and LRT English.
A European Perspective is a project led by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) that allows participating organisations to freely share online news with each other. This year, LRT joined the project.
“Seeing that more and more people are consuming news online and the growing importance of objective, reliable news, we have long felt the need to share not only TV and radio content, but also online news with other European public service broadcasters. Therefore, we very much welcome this initiative, which improves access to quality and reliable content from all over Europe,” said Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė, director general of LRT.
“By sharing news and providing a broader insight into events and issues across Europe, public service broadcasters are also helping to bring audiences closer together by strengthening mutual understanding between our societies,” she added.
News from European broadcasters, which is produced in different national languages, is presented in English on LRT.lt using the EBU’s EuroVOX automated translation software.

A European Perspective was launched in 2021 by the EBU together with 11 other public service media organisations from Ireland (RTÉ), Belgium (RTBF), Estonia (ERR), Spain (RTVE), Italy (Eurovision Italy, RAI), Portugal (RTP), France (France Télévisions), Finland (Yle), Sweden (SR), Switzerland (SWI), Germany (BR-ARD), as well as the Franco-German broadcaster ARTE, the Constructive Institute from Denmark and Agence France Presse (AFP).
According to the EBU, more than 6,500 stories were shared on the countries’ websites in the first eight months of the project.
The European Broadcasting Union brings together 112 broadcasting organisations in 56 countries in Europe and beyond, as well as associate members in Asia, Africa, the US and South America. LRT has been a member of the EBU since 1993.
The organisation represents and defends the interests of public service broadcasters internationally and locally, helping members to acquire and produce quality content, to share best practices and knowledge, and to build a community of experts.
