New survey ranks Lithuania’s most influential people in business

A poll of economy experts and public figures has ranked Nerijus Mačiulis, a chief economist at Swedbank, as the most influential person in Lithuania’s business.

The ranking was published by Delfi.lt on Wednesday.

Vidmantas Janulevičius, president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, comes in second in the poll, followed by Arvydas Avulis, a businessman and board chairman of the real estate developer Hanner.

Next on the list are Raimondas Kuodis, an economist and deputy board chairman of the central Bank of Lithuania, Robertas Dargis, the owner of the real estate developer Eika and former president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.

The top-10 also includes Danas Arlauskas, head of the Lithuanian Confederation of Employers, Vladas Algirdas Bumelis, board chairman of Northway Biotech, Žygimantas Mauricas, chief economist at Luminor Bank, Marius Dubnikovas, an economist and vice-president of the Lithuanian Business Confederation, and Darius Mockus, president of MG Grupė (formerly known as MG Baltic).

In total, 925 experts, politicians, businesspeople, civil servants, journalists, public figures, and well-known people were surveyed by the magazine Reitingai for Delfi.lt between May 17 and June 23.

Avulis leads the rating based on the public survey for the fourth year in a row. Mačiulis is in the second place, followed by Mauricas and Dargis.

Rūta Vainienė, an economist and the executive director of the Association of Lithuanian Retail Enterprises (LPIA), is a newcomer this year and comes in fifth, followed by Arlauskas, Gediminas Žiemelis, board chairman of Avia Solutions Group, Kuodis, as well as businessmen Nerijus Numa and Antanas Guoga.

The public opinion poll was carried out by the market and public opinion research company Spinter Tyrimai on July 18-25 and included 1,013 people aged 18-75.

Delfi.lt has been naming the most influential people in Lithuania for the past eight years.
