Die-hard fans of the hit series Stranger Things can spend a night in one of its shooting locations – the centennial Lukiškės Prison in Vilnius, Lithuania.
According to a press release by Go Vilnius, the city’s tourism promotion agency, a 1980s-themed cell is available for booking on Airbnb. It has drawn inspiration from the show, and those who decide to spend the night in it will be also offered a guided tour through the prison and a tasting of waffles like the ones beloved by the show’s characters.
Lukiškės Prison was one of the shooting locations for Season 4 of Stranger Things. Production in Vilnius took place in the winter of 2020 and 2021.
The double cell available for booking is furnished and decorated to resemble the show’s characteristic atmosphere.
People who book a stay at Lukiškės Prison can also go on a guided tour of the grounds, have a glimpse at once real prison life and walk through the exact show’s shooting spots – the corridors, the fenced courtyard, and other hidden corners.
Season 4 of Stranger Things premieres on May 27.
Lukiškės Prison ceased to function as an imprisonment facility in 2019, and the building was restructured and turned into a hub for artists and a venue for music, art, and other events. This summer the facility will host a number of outdoor events and an international music event 8 Festival.
