On Thursday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will pay a visit to Lithuania, where he is scheduled to meet with the country’s leaders as well as Spanish troops serving in Šiauliai.
Sanchez and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda plan to discuss regional security and NATO, Russia and Belarus, challenges posed by irregular migration, the protection of the EU's eastern and southern borders, as well as the Astravyets nuclear plant.
Nausėda and Sanchez will also meet with Spanish troops deployed in the Baltic states as part of the NATO air policing mission in Šiauliai, northern Lithuania.
In Vilnius, the Spanish prime minister is scheduled to meet with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
Sanchez will also meet with Arvydas Sabonis, president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation.
Earlier, the Spanish prime minister visited Estonia and Latvia.
