Transport Minister Juras Taminskas will meet heads of Lithuania's state-owned companies on Thursday to discuss their response to a recent air alert triggered by a suspected drone sighting.

On the eve of the meeting, the minister said on his Facebook account that the aim is to assess coordination and identify areas where preparedness, communication, and response procedures need to be strengthened.

The meeting will include heads of Lithuania Post, Klaipėda State Seaport, Lithuanian Airports, and other ministry-controlled entities.

An air alert was in effect for about two hours on Wednesday morning in eastern Lithuania due to a potential drone threat. Consequently, the airspace over Vilnius Airport was closed for about an hour, and some train operations were suspended.

The capital's airport has faced criticism over poor passenger communication and a lack of available shelters.
