Lithuania's Health Ministry has updated its list of coronavirus-affected countries. As of Monday, people arriving from Norway, Hungary, and Canada will be required to self-isolate.
The number of cases in these countries over the past two weeks has exceeded the 16 per 100,000 threshold but did not go above 25, meaning that people travelling will need to self-isolate upon arrival for two weeks, but will not need to have a negative Covid-19 test prior to departure.
Arrivals from only four countries – Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Cyprus – do not require to self-isolate upon arrival.
The rates exceeded 25 in Italy and the UK, meaning that people arriving from these countries will need to get coronavirus tests done no later than 72 hours before coming to Lithuania.
The number of coronavirus cases has gone down below 25 cases per 100,000 people in Bulgaria, Sweden, Lichtenstein and Kyrgyzstan, meaning arrivals from these countries will no longer need a prior Covid-19 test.
The Health Ministry notes that isolation is mandatory, unless when flying from a non-affected country via a country on the list, but not leaving the airport's transit zone.
Self-isolation is not required for people who travel via Poland and make only necessary stops along the way.
Although Estonia reached 16 cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people – the threshold when arrivals need to self-isolate – Lithuania’s authorities decided not to add it to the list.
It followed an earlier decision by Latvia’s government to keep the so-called Baltic travel bubble intact by not requiring arrivals from Estonia and Lithuania to self-isolate.
Lithuania’s 14-day Covid-19 infection rate currently stands at 16.1 cases per 100,000 people.
