Lithuania's police has issued a fine of 30 euros to a fan who stormed onto the football pitch in Vilnius and approached Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal's national football team.
"A protocol due to a minor violation of the public order has been produced and the decision has been made to issue a fine of 30 euros," Julija Samorokovskaja, spokeswoman of Vilnius police, told BNS on Friday.
The incident took place in the second half of the game when Ronaldo was about to leave the pitch after substitution. The fan ran on the pitch and got on his knees to ask for a selfie with the football star. He was soon taken away by security guards.
The pitch invader previously told LRT.lt that Ronaldo "is my idol, he is God". According to him, Ronaldo smiled when approached, and agreed to take a photo.
The Lithuanian Football Federation is facing a fine from the UEFA for the incident, that could run up to 20,000 euros.
