On the night of January 13, St Jacob’s Hospital was one of the hospitals taking in victims of the Soviet aggression by the TV tower and other places.
People were brought to St Jacob’s heavily wounded or already dead. Medics recall how they were trying to register all the wounded, but some were eager to leave as soon as possible and rejoin the crowd outside the Supreme Council.
Some fifty wounded were brought in private cars. Medics from other hospitals, medical students, neurosurgeons from Kaunas came to St Jacob’s Hospital to assist that night. None of them had any experience of working under conditions they compared to a field hospital.
