Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will launch direct flights between Vilnius and Prague this autumn, further expanding its operations in Lithuania.
“In addition to the eight routes already announced, we have one more, bringing the total to nine new routes and adding another country to our map,” said Ian Malin, the airline’s chief commercial officer, speaking to reporters in Vilnius on Friday.
The airline plans to operate the route three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – starting September 5.
According to Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautavičienė, commercial director at Lithuanian Airports, Wizz Air currently holds the largest market share at Vilnius Airport.
The carrier operates 24 routes to 18 countries from Lithuania, including 22 from Vilnius, as well as services from Kaunas and Palanga.
