Lithuania is advising travellers to Cyprus to take additional precautions as the conflict in the Middle East triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran escalates.

“Due to increased regional tensions, travellers are advised to take additional precautionary measures. It is recommended to closely follow local news and official announcements, regularly check airline information, and comply with the instructions of Cypriot authorities," Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

Cyprus previously reported that an Iranian Shahed drone crashed into the British Royal Air Force Akrotiri base in the south of Cyprus on Sunday evening.

This British overseas territory is located near the southern coastal city of Limassol.

Earlier on Monday, a Cypriot official said that two suspected drones heading toward the British base were intercepted.

On Sunday, the United Kingdom agreed to allow US to use British military bases for strikes aimed at destroying Iranian missiles and their launch sites.
