Lithuanian municipalities allocate €50,000 for generators and heaters for Ukraine

Lithuania’s Association of Local Authorities has allocated €50,000 on behalf of the country’s municipalities to provide generators and heaters for Ukraine.

The association’s board said the funds would support the Warm Ukraine initiative, launched by the NGO Stronger Together in cooperation with the Lithuanian National Museum of Art.

Association president and Plungė District mayor Audrius Klišonis said Lithuania’s continued backing of Ukraine remained essential.

“Consistency is one of the key features of Lithuania’s support for Ukraine. We understand that war, unfortunately, does not follow a schedule, but Ukraine must be able to rely on at least one constant – the support of countries that stand with it,” he said.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, the association says it has allocated €230,000 in aid to Ukraine.

Klišonis added that many Lithuanian municipalities maintain close ties with Ukrainian cities, sending supplies and vehicles, providing financial assistance to partner municipalities, and organising humanitarian campaigns and children’s camps.
