Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys met Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Chisinau on Friday to discuss bilateral relations, European integration, and ways to strengthen resistance to Russian hybrid attacks.

“Moldova, like Lithuania, is the target of deliberate Russian disinformation and hybrid attacks,” Budrys said in a statement released by Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry.

“One thing is clear: the Kremlin’s main goal is to undermine the European aspirations of the Moldovan people and weaken public support for EU membership. We cannot allow these narratives to prevail. The EU must join forces to help Moldova implement structural reforms and counter Russian influence,” the statement read.

The Lithuanian minister praised Moldova’s experience in 2024 and 2025 in repelling hybrid attacks and attempts to influence democratic elections. He added that exchanging lessons and sharing successful practices contributes to a more resilient and secure Europe.

Budrys reaffirmed Lithuania’s support for Moldova’s European path and its efforts to strengthen security, democratic institutions, and the justice system. The meeting also covered support for Ukraine.

During his visit, the minister is scheduled to meet Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi, and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.
