Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė said she was delighted with the friendly relations developed with her Polish counterpart Donald Tusk after the two watched the Lithuania–Poland football game over the weekend.
The prime ministers watched the men’s UEFA World Cup qualifier at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium in Kaunas on Sunday, and photos of them spread across social media.
Asked what she talked about with Tusk, Ruginienė told reporters they talked “about everything”, adding that she was “really happy about the friendly relationship we built in such a short time”.
She said they also discussed issues related to defence funding. The Lithuanian prime minister said she planned to use so-called sport diplomacy with leaders of other countries.
"I will definitely play all my cards if it is beneficial to Lithuania," the prime minister said.
The Lithuanian national team lost to Poland 0:2.
Ruginienė and Tusk met for the first time at the beginning of last week in Warsaw.
