Lithuania’s Employment Service said on Wednesday it was looking for teachers who will be teaching the children of the German brigade soldiers and personnel.
Currently, the search is focused on recruiting a pre-school teacher, a teacher’s assistant and a part-time music teacher.
“As the number of German brigade troops in Lithuania grows, so will the need for service personnel. The recruitment of teachers is now open and one of the main requirements, depending on the position, is to be able to speak German,” Brigita Blavasčiūnienė, director of the Employment Service’s Service Organisation Department, was quoted in a statement.
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in educational sciences or a degree as a certified teacher or social teacher, the service said. German language skills of at least A2 level are also required.
Salaries will depend on experience and qualifications.

A kindergarten-school for German children will be set up within the premises of the Lithuanian Centre for the Education of the Blind and Partially Sighted in Vilnius. About 50 kindergarten and 50 school-age children are to enrol from September.
In the first year of operation, the school will only teach students in Years 1–4. Upper grades will be able to attend it from the 2026-2027 academic year.
According to Blavasčiūnienė, the expansion of the German brigade in Lithuania will continue until 2027, so they will need more and more services.
“Lithuanian citizens will be able to apply for many of the jobs, not only for teacher positions, but also other positions such as drivers, office workers, and assistant translators will soon be open for recruitment,” she said.
The Employment Service says it is working closely with the HR department of the German brigade’s HQ, providing advice on recruitment, staffing, posts and salaries.
