Lithuanian-based Hegelmann shareholder visited Russia

Anton Hegelmann, a shareholder of the German-owned international transport and logistics company Hegelmann Group and a resident of Lithuania, visited Russia in June.

Hegelmann took part in a meeting between representatives of Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia and Iran, as evidenced by photos published on the Russian website riakalm.ru. Lithuanian attorney Michailas Bronas was also seen in the images, appearing near Hegelmann.

The meeting reportedly focused on potential bilateral cooperation in trade, economic development, investment, and humanitarian issues.

Hegelmann told LRT.lt that his visit was strictly personal and that he did not represent any company or government.

“The meeting was exclusively for presenting regional economic plans by Kalmykia officials,” he said. “There were no speeches or discussions from my side about investment or business plans – and in such a geopolitical context, there could not have been. I participated as a private individual.”

Bronas also denied any official role, stating that his presence had no connection to legal practice or representation.

“This meeting had nothing to do with my legal work, any mandates, or acting in a representative capacity,” he told LRT.lt. “It was a private trip intended to better understand the region and its potential in the broader European and Asian economic context.”

In addition to Hegelmann’s visit, cargo from the company Hegelmann Transporte continues to be shipped to Russia. Listings on freight exchanges Cargo and TIMOCOM show Hegelmann Transporte offering cargo transport from France and Germany to Russia.

The company’s Lithuanian branch CEO, Tomas Jurgelevičius, told LRT.lt that only shipments not subject to international sanctions are transported to Russia.

Founded in 1998, Hegelmann Group established operations in Lithuania in 2004, setting up its office in Kaunas, according to BNS.
