The prestigious Michelin Guide has unveiled its second edition for Lithuania, reaffirming its star ratings for four acclaimed restaurants in Vilnius and including eight names to its list of Bib Gourmand honourees, known for high-quality food at great value.
The restaurants Demo, Džiaugsmas, Pas mus, and Nineteen18 retained their one-star status. Michelin’s international director Gwendal Poullennec noted the country’s evolving culinary scene, which continues to blend tradition with innovation.
“Lithuania is a progressive country,” Poullennec was quoted in Michelin’s press release. “Since the debut of the Michelin Guide here last year, the culinary scene has grown, showcasing both refined existing establishments and exciting newcomers.”
Star retentions reflect consistency and creativity
Each of the four one-star restaurants impressed inspectors with their culinary craftsmanship and unique identities:
- Demo not only held onto its star but also earned a Green Star for sustainability. Chef Tadas Eidukevičius transforms the former microchip factory into a modern dining destination, with inventive tasting menus that reflect both culinary flair and environmental consciousness.
- Džiaugsmas, nestled in a historical building in central Vilnius, stood out with its minimalist, ingredient-driven cuisine and industrial-chic interiors.
- Nineteen18, part of a courtyard culinary collective in the Old Town, continues to draw praise for its farm-to-table ethos and refined tasting menu.
- Meanwhile, Pas mus offers an intimate, home-like experience, driven by chef Vita Bartininkaite’s passion for seasonal and foraged ingredients.
Eight restaurants honoured with Bib Gourmand distinction
Four new restaurants joined the Bib Gourmand category in 2025:
- Augustin, a stylish bistro with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences, received both a Bib Gourmand and the Young Chef Award for its 29-year-old head chef Darek Medvedevas.
- B’ARN Bistro, led by chef Arnas, combines global flavours with a deeply personal touch in a tiny, home-like space.
- El Gato Negro transports diners to Mexico with vibrant décor and authentic flavuors like beef tongue tacos and churros.
- Kristoforas, located in Vilnius Town Hall, serves refined French-Italian fare in a classical setting.
They join four returning Bib Gourmand recipients: 14Horses, Gaspar’s, Le Travi, and Nüman.
Two restaurants receive green stars for sustainability
In addition to Demo, the Green Star was awarded to Red Brick, located on a sustainable farm north of Vilnius. Both restaurants impressed inspectors with their eco-conscious philosophies, local sourcing, and innovative reuse of materials.
New entries in the guide
Twenty-five restaurants were listed in the main Michelin Guide selection, including newcomers Alba Bistro in Klaipėda and MOTÍF in Vilnius. The former offers authentic Italian dishes in a coastal setting, while the latter delivers upscale Japanese fusion in a lively downtown venue.
