The first scilla flowers of the season have been spotted in the Lithuanian capital, marking the true arrival of spring.

Each year, the slopes of the historic Bernardine Cemetery transform into a sea of blue as Siberian squill bloom, creating a highly anticipated sight. Photographing these delicate flowers has become a cherished spring tradition, with images flooding social media.

For several years, Bernardine Cemetery has drawn visitors in early spring when the vibrant blue slopes reach their peak. The Siberian squill, a perennial bulbous plant from the lily family (Liliaceae), consists of about 80 species worldwide.

Typically blooming from March to April, these flowers blanket the cemetery hillsides in a dense blue carpet.
