Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, who met with US President-elect Donald Trump over dinner in Paris on Saturday, says he wished him a fair solution on Ukraine.
“I had a brief chat with President Trump. However, the dinner is an informal chat, and it is not very binding. Of course, it was nice to hear that Lithuanians are great people. He said: ‘I know that Lithuanians are great people.’ I liked that message very much,” Nausėda said in a video released by the President’s Office on Sunday.
“For my part, I wished him God’s blessing for a fair solution to Ukraine. That this solution would be fair, first of all, from Ukraine’s point of view,” he added.
On Saturday, Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė attended the official opening ceremony of the rebuilt Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral in Paris.

Prior to the official opening ceremony, French President Emmanuel Macron held a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump at the Élysée Palace.
US President-elect Trump said on Sunday that Ukrainian president Zelensky would like to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. He also said that “there should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin” between Ukraine and Russia.
“Zelensky and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness,” Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social.
“I know Vladimir well. This is his time to act. China can help. The World is waiting!” Trump added, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
For his part, Zelensky said that any solution to Russia’s war in Ukraine should be “fair” and include “strong security guarantees for Ukraine”.
