Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on Tuesday called on all Ukrainians to remain strong and courageous as Ukraine marks 1,000 days since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“1,000 days ago, Russia started its brutal war of aggression, followed by long days and nights of terror, destruction and heroic struggle. Today, Lithuania honours every fallen defender of Ukraine, we honour those who continue to fight for a just peace and a better future for your nation,” the Lithuanian president said.
Lithuania will continue to stand with Ukraine, as it has done “from the first day of the war” and will do so “until the final victory”, Nausėda said.
“Stay strong and courageous. History is on your side. Glory to Ukraine!” the president added.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, causing massive losses to Ukraine and drawing unprecedented condemnation from the West and subsequently leading to international sanctions.
Vilnius has provided more than 705 million euros in military aid to Kyiv since the start of the war, and Lithuania’s total support to Ukraine has exceeded one billion euros.
Lithuania is also committed to spending 0.25 percent of its GDP on Ukraine’s security and defence each year, which amounts to around 190 million euros.
