The construction of Vilnius Airport’s new departures terminal is complete, Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) said on Friday. It will be opened to passengers in February.
The terminal was built by Eikos Statyba over more than a year and a half at a cost of around 50 million euros.
“The new terminal of more than 14,000 square metres will not only be twice more spacious, but will also be able to handle twice as many passengers,” LTOU said in a statement.
The official launch event will take place on Monday. Equipment will be installed and tested inside the terminal before the new facility is put to use in February 2025, LTOU said.

On Monday, the LTOU, which manages Lithuania’s three international airports in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga, is also presenting its updated operational strategy for the period until 2028.
Further development plans at Vilnius Airport include constructing a new arrivals terminal by 2027. The current 1950s building will be renovated and adapted for commerce.
An underground Rail Baltica station is to be built under the airport by 2030.
The Ministry of Transport has proposed to recognise the expansion of Vilnius Airport as a project of national importance. At the cost of 235 million euros, to be covered by public and private investors, the airport would be expanded to handle at least 7.8 million passengers a year by 2030.
