Two Lithuanian companies were fined for working with sanctioned Russian producers of coal and rubber.
“Lithuanian customs officials have issued protocols to two companies registered in Lithuania for violating international sanctions. Both companies were fined 10,000 euros each,” reads a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to the Customs Department, the companies provided temporary storage, customs clearance, customs representation services. They declared goods produced by Russian companies on the EU sanctions list.
The goods shipped from Russia were coal products and isoprene rubber.
Prosecutor General Nida Grunskienė said in August that more than 50 pre-trial investigations were conducted into attempts to violate international sanctions on Russia and Belarus.
At the beginning of August, the customs authorities announced that they had fined a Lithuanian car exporting company 13.6 million euros. BNS sources confirmed that the company was Biovarda.
The company has appealed the decision to the court.
