Valdemaras Valkiūnas is the richest MP in the Lithuanian Seimas, while three other politicians declared assets in excess of one million euros last year.
According to politicians’ 2023 asset declarations, published by the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) on Thursday, the ten richest members of the Seimas are cumulatively worth almost 13.5 million euros.
Valkiūnas, who stood in the last elections as an independent candidate, has declared assets worth 4.89 million euros. The largest part of his assets are plots of land abroad, worth 1.65 million. The politician also owns real estate abroad worth 1.13 million euros and shares worth 1.05 million.
The second richest MP, the Social Democrat Gintautas Paluckas, has assets worth 2.13 million euros and is mainly invested in shares worth 1.7 million.

Third is Arminas Lydeka, a member of the Liberal Movement group, with assets worth 1.35 million euros. Most of his wealth is in ownership of apartments, totalling 1.13 million euros.
Conservative Kazys Starkevičius also declared assets worth just over 1 million euros. He owns land plots to the tune of more than 600,000 euros, and buildings in Lithuania worth 277,000.
Remigijus Žemaitaitis, who resigned from the Seimas in April and ran for president in May, declared that he has assets worth 940,000 euros.

Kęstutis Mažeika, a member of the Democratic Union “For Lithuania” and a former minister, declared assets of 740,000 euros.
Valius Ąžuolas, of the Farmers and Greens Union, owns assets worth 662,000 euros.
Liberal Juozas Baublys, who has accumulated assets of 588,000 euros, is next on the list, followed by conservative Mindaugas Skritulskas (571,000 euros).
The tenth richest person in the Seimas is Jonas Pinskus, chairman of the Party of Regions. He has declared assets worth 568,000 euros, 300,000 of which is cash.
The top ten richest MPs are listed without taking into account the assets of their spouses.
