Lithuania saw a decline in flu cases last week, although two elderly patients passed away. Moreover, one Covid-19 death was reported, the National Public Health Center (NVSC) said on Monday.
The overall incidence rate for flu, acute upper respiratory infection and Covid-19 edged up to 937.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants between April 15–21, from 934.6 a week earlier.
The number of recorded flu cases declined to 200 and that of Covid-19 went down to 88, compared to 301 and 130, respectively, between April 8–14.
However, the number of recorded common cold cases rose by around 200 to 26,489 last week.
The two deaths from flu were registered in the counties of Šiauliai and Kaunas. The patients were in their 70s and 90s, neither had been vaccinated against seasonal flu.
The Covid-19 death was reported on April 20.
Six people were hospitalised for flu in Lithuania: five children and one 65-year-old. No patients were treated in intensive care units.
A total of 27 flu deaths have been recorded so far this season, according to the NVSC.
