Lithuania kicks off one of the largest national military exercises, the three-week Thunder Strike, on Monday.
During the drill, the Lithuanian Armed Forces and government institutions will practice how to perform a full transition to wartime mode, the military said.
For the drills, 10,000 active reserve personnel will be called up for service, about 2,500 for active training.
The training will also include more than 4,000 members of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, as well as members of the Riflemen’s Union and local administrations.
The exercise will also include training of commandants assigned to municipalities, the formation of commandant units and their functions, training on requisitioning of material assets, and the temporary introduction of a curfew in certain areas of Vilnius and Kaunas.
The Thunder Strike exercise will run until 10 May.
