Lithuanian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday handed a protest note to a representative of the Russian Embassy regarding Moscow’s decision to put Lithuanian politicians and public figures on the wanted list.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Russia has placed Lithuanian Culture Minister Simonas Kairys and several dozen other politicians and public figures on its wanted list for their role in dismantling Soviet monuments in Lithuania.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that these decisions of the Russian Federation contradict the accepted norms of international law, represent an attempt to falsify the past, and disrespect Lithuania’s historical memory.
The note demanded an immediate end to the politically motivated persecution of the Lithuanian citizens, the press release said.
