The 17th edition of Vilnius Short Film Festival is kicking off on Wednesday, featuring “trend-setting and future-predicting short films”, some of them made by artificial intelligence, according to the organisers.
The festival, which will run for almost a week, will see the screening of over 100 short films in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai cinemas and on streaming platforms.
“The gem of the repertoire, Algorithmic Mirages is a showcase of films made by, or with the help of, artificial intelligence. It will take us on a puzzling tour of synthetic films made using AI tools,” the organisers have said in a press release.
An international jury will judge the festival’s competition programs and name the best films in the national and international competitions.
Established in 2006, Vilnius Short Film Festival is one of the biggest short film festivals in the Baltic countries.
