Lithuania has allocated 4.6 million euros to finance the studies of more than 1,000 Ukrainians this year, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport said on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the support is intended for the Ukrainians who have chosen bachelor's and integrated studies at Lithuanian public higher education institutions.
The state pays 60 percent of the annual tuition fees for higher education institutions that accept Ukrainian students. The higher education institutions cover the rest of the cost.
Ukrainians studying in Lithuania also receive a monthly grant of 300 euros to cover their basic living costs and buy school supplies.
Ukrainian students are currently studying at seventeen Lithuanian higher education institutions. The largest number of Ukrainians study at Vilnius University, Vytautas Magnus University, Vilnius Tech, Kaunas University of Technology, and Vilnius College.
Like other students, Ukrainians wishing to study in Lithuania must meet the entry requirements set by the state and higher education institutions.
State support for Ukrainian students has been available since February last year and is administered by the State Study Fund.
