Austėja Landsbergienė, the wife of Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, is the wealthiest public person in the country, according to the asset declarations published by the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) on Tuesday.

Landsbergienė, who owns a network of private schools and kindergartens, has declared assets valued at 17.7 million euros. This includes 12.6 million euros in shares and another 3.6 million euros in securities. She also owns property abroad worth 795,000 euros and land plots in Lithuania worth 178,000 euros.

The value of property owned by Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis remained unchanged from last year at 194,000 euros, while the value of the land plots is valued at 175,000 euros. The minister has decreased his securities from 8,600 to 1,700 euros.

The second-wealthiest public person in Lithuania is Vidmantas Dambrauskas, a councillor of Klaipėda City Municipality, with assets worth 17.5 million euros. Viktoras Uspaskichas, a Lithuanian MEP and the controversial former leader of the Labour Party, is ranked third with assets worth 7 million euros.

Meanwhile, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and his family have declared assets worth 771,000 euros, making him the wealthiest Lithuanian state leader, according to the tax declarations by the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) on Tuesday.

The value of the family assets of Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the speaker of the Seimas, amounts to 324,500 euros, but the report does not include the assets of her spouse. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė's assets amount to 286,200 euros.

Nausėda and his spouse declare that they own real estate worth 263,000 euros each and have plots of land worth 95,250 euros each. Nausėda has savings of 25,000 euros, while his wife Diana Nausėdienė has 19,700. She also owns 7,600-euros-worth artwork, while Nausėda has a loan of 48,600 euros.

Nausėda's family assets have increased by almost 1.400 euros since last year.

Čmilytė-Nielsen owns an apartment and a house worth 152,000 and 59,200 euros, respectively, as well as a car worth 23,300 euros and has declared 89,800 euros in savings in Lithuania and abroad. She also has a loan of over 21,000 euros.

Last year, Čmilytė-Nielsen and her spouse had joint assets of 1.03 million euros, but this year the tax authorities report that Peter Heine Nielsen, her husband, did not file a declaration.

Šimonytė declared that she owns an apartment and a house worth 90,000 and 140,000 euros, respectively, as well as land plots worth 24,500 euros and vehicles worth 20,000 euros. She also has savings of around 11,700 euros and a loan of over 51,200 euros.

Compared to 2021, the value of Šimonytė's assets has increased by around 3,000 euros.

All public figures (viešieji asmenys) must declare the value of their assets each year. The records are then made public on the website of the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI).
