Price of bread in Lithuania rises by a third – Eurostat

The year-on-year price of bread rose by a third in Lithuania in August, according to Eurostat’s Monday data quoted by Reuters.

The highest increase in bread price was recorded in Hungary with 66 percent. Throughout the European Union, the price of bread rose by 18 percent in August 2020 compared to the year before.

The prices have been impacted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which led to the global disruption of food supply chains.

The lowest increase in bread prices was recorded in France at 8 percent and the Netherlands and Luxembourg at 10 percent.
