The conservative Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats, which rose back to the top of the party rankings a month ago, are holding onto their lead, according to the latest Spinter Tyrimai opinion poll published by the Delfi news website on Tuesday.

Some 13.6 percent of respondents said in April they would vote for the ruling Homeland Union, up from 13.1 percent in March.

The second place was claimed by the Union of Democrats, “For Lithuania”, the party of the country’s former prime minister, Saulius Skvernelis. The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) was placed third.

"For Lithuania" saw their popularity edge down to 10 percent, from 10.7 percent in March, and support for the LSDP, another opposition party, dipped to 9.4 percent, from 10.2 percent.

The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) came in fourth with 6.6 percent, down from 6.9 percent in March.

The Liberal Movement, part of the ruling coalition, ranked fifth with voter support up to 6.3 percent, from 6 percent in March. The movement was followed by the Freedom Party, the third member of the government coalition, with 4.4 percent, up from 3.7 percent in March.

Further down the list were the Freedom and Justice Party with 4.3 percent (up from 4.7 percent in March), and the Labour Party with 4.2 percent.

Spinter Tyrimai polled 1,007 people between April 20 and 28, with 50 percent interviewed by phone and the rest online.
