Coronavirus: Lithuania reports 1,879 new cases, 15 deaths

Lithuania has confirmed 1,879 new coronavirus infections and 15 deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Thursday morning.

Thirteen of the fatalities were either not vaccinated or only partially vaccinated.

A total of 17,493 people have been vaccinated over the past 24 hours, including 1,778 with their first shot. Overall, 67.8 percent of the population have been vaccinated at least once.

The total number of Covid-19 patients in Lithuania's hospitals stands at 1,267, down by several dozen from the day before, including 113 ICU cases.

About 15,500 molecular (PCR) tests for Covid-19 and 3,500 antigen tests have been performed over the past 24 hours.

The 14-day infection rate has inched up to 834.3 per 100,000 people, and the seven-day percentage of positive tests is 11 percent.

Overall, almost 498,000 people in Lithuania have tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. The total death toll is around 7,100.
