Lithuania to start giving vaccine booster shots in coming weeks – PM

LRT RADIJAS, BNS 2021.08.31 10:49

Lithuania is likely to start offering coronavirus vaccine booster shots to members of the public in the coming weeks, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said on Tuesday.

“This should begin in the coming weeks,” she told LRT RADIO, adding that people who had their second shots at least six months ago would be eligible for a third jab.

The Council of Experts advising the government made the recommendation on Monday. They analysed antibody test results of people who had been among the first ones to receive Covid-19 vaccines, according to the prime minister.

Šimonytė said that the procedure for giving booster shots would be laid down by Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys in a decree.

Lithuania has been administering booster shots to a small group of immunosuppressed patients since early August.
