Coronavirus: Lithuania reports 548 new cases, two deaths

Lithuania has registered 548 new coronavirus infections and two deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Friday morning.

The fatalities were aged 70–77 and 80–89.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate has risen to 226 cases per 100,000 people, and the daily share of positive tests has remained at 4 percent, according to the latest statistics.

Some 6,023 molecular (PCR) tests for Covid-19 and 8,406 antigen tests have been performed over the past 24 hours.

Overall, 288,747 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases currently stands at 5,546.

A total of 4,440 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 9,081.

On Wednesday, 13,650 people were vaccinated for the first time and 8,465 received the second shot.

In all, 55.1 percent of the population have received at least one vaccine dose, or 65.1 percent of adults.
