Coronavirus: Lithuania reports 599 new cases, two deaths

Lithuania has registered 599 new coronavirus infections and two deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Thursday morning.

The fatalities were aged between 80 and 99 years.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate is now 218 cases per 100,000 people, and the daily share of positive tests stands at 4 percent, according to Statistics Lithuania.

Overall, 288,173 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. There are now 5,310 active cases.

The country's hospitals are currently treating 362 Covid-19 patients, 44 of them are in intensive care.

A total of 4,438 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 9,076.

On Wednesday, 10,938 people were vaccinated for the first time and 6,538 received the second shot.

In all, 54.6 percent of the population have received at least one vaccine dose, or 64.6 percent of adults.
