Coronavirus: Lithuania confirms 576 new cases, two more deaths

Lithuania has registered 576 new coronavirus infections and two deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Tuesday morning.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate now stands at 211.2 cases per 100,000 people, and the daily share of positive test results is 3.8 percent, according to the latest statistics.

Overall, 287,569 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic, and the number of active cases has risen to 5,082 over the last 24 hours.

There are 334 Covid-19 patients currently being treated at the country's hospitals, 44 of them in intensive care.

A total of 4,435 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 9,072.

Nearly 16,000 people were vaccinated on Tuesday: 11,081 were given their first vaccine shot and 4,676 got the second jab.

So far, 54.2 percent of the population have been vaccinated at least once.
